Management Bios

William J. Goebel

Mr. Goebel has over 32 years experience in senior management in marketing, sales, licensing, manufacturing, importing & exporting and finance. His broad-based experience has encompassed large and varied product categories with widespread account diversification in all of the principal channels of distribution, including the Apparel, Food, Health and Beauty, Home Furnishings, Small Appliance, and the Media Industries.

He is a pioneer in Licensing, Account Specific Trade and Partnership Marketing.  Throughout his career he has instrumentally refined marketing programs to serve a variety of manufacturing and retailing clients in order to meet their challenging needs for today’s fast-changing consumer environment. 

He client list is extensive: Black and Decker Small Appliances, Walgreens and Bass Pro Shop on-line food programs, McNeil Consumer Products (Tylenol), Johnson & Johnson, Sara Lee Apparel and Foods, Sargento Foods (Cheese), PBS, Alexander Julian, Halston, Crazy Plates Foods, DeWalt and Lowe’s Home Centers, to name a few. 

Today, Bill develops and implements integrated marketing, sales and licensing programs for high-profile properties in the food, home furnishings, and apparel and hardware segments. He is adept in strategically linking properties with manufacturers and retailers, and vice-versa.

A few of his recent and current programs are;

  • A multi-year program with 12 new licenses for Lowe’s Home Center and Alexander Julian, worth over $750 million at retail.

  • Walgreens on-line Food program.

  • DeWalt Power Tools License for Publications.

  • Furniture, Bedding, Area Rugs and Food for designer Alexander Julian.

  • A PBS TV show “A Moment of Luxury with Bill Stubbs” scheduled on air for April, 2007 (26 episodes) featuring Interior design, food and travel.

  • Launch of a new line of Frozen Foods (Crazy Plates) from Canada into the USA.

  • Launch of retailer programs with Southern Foods.

Mr. Goebel served in a number of marketing and sales positions before becoming an independent consultant.  Mr. Goebel served as a Sr. Vice President of Mars Advertising responsible for marketing and sales.  He founded and headed up the Southern Division of Mars Advertising and secured several prestigious accounts for the firm, including Dial Corporation, Sara Lee Apparel and Foods, Nestle, Black & Decker and Pfizer.

Prior to his service with Mars Advertising, major Hosiery Corporation employed Mr. Goebel.  There he was awarded the “Promotion of the Year Award” by Advertising Age magazine for his development of the No Nonsense Barbara Mandrell Tour and promotion.

He also launched for Unilever Worldwide, Vaseline Lip Therapy, which then became the #1 selling HBA item in the U.S., and was awarded the prestigious “Esty’s Best Creative Award” for a Vaseline Lip Therapy commercial.

Bill sits on numerous Boards, including the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of American Old North State Council in NC, DeWalt Pal Publications, Alexander Julian, Interwood Marketing (a DRM company) and other non-profit organizations in NC.

Mr. Goebel has appeared on Good Morning America, has had his home featured in Better Homes and Gardens, worked at Capital Hill on the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, and has traveled extensively throughout the world for business and pleasure. He studied at number of universities such as Harvard, Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State University and Roosevelt University.  Bill is an Eagle Scout and stays actively involved with Scouting today. He is a mentor to high school students and a high school youth leader at his church.

He has been married for 14 years and is the father of three children.

JED A. CORMAN

Jed has worked on the manufacturer and agency side developing and implementing strategic trade and consumer marketing and sales programs.

He has in-depth experience in marketing/ trade promotion/ communications working for Kayser-Roth Hosiery for 14 years, on the No Nonsense, Calvin Klein, Burlington and Hue brands, gaining experience with consumer packaged goods and apparel selling to food, drug, mass and department/specialty retailers.

Since leaving there, he has been with several marketing/advertising agencies, as well as providing freelance consulting on a range of projects, before joining GMA. Jed has worked with a variety of national consumer packaged goods and apparel manufacturers (Sara Lee, Armour-Dial, Sargento Foods, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, RJ Reynolds, Alexander Julian) focusing on trade/ retail driven programs. He has also worked with several home furnishings companies/designers (Levolor Kirsch Window Fashions, Alexander Julian, Bob Timberlake) on new product launches and licensing/branding programs.

Jed has a BBA in Marketing and an MBA from the University of Georgia.


John L. Deuterman

Principal and officer of Corporate Research, John Deuterman has over 30 years experience in marketing research. Prior to founding Corporate Research he served as Vice President of The Marketing Workshop, an Atlanta marketing research firm. Additionally, John serves as GMA’s in-house Market Research Director, working closely on all projects.

He was Director of Marketing Research for Kayser-Roth Corporation. In this capacity he was responsible for all marketing research for Kayser-Roth Corporation, consultation to the parent company, Gulf + Western, as well as other functions including Direct Marketing, Consumer Relations, Marketing Promotions, and Information Processing.

He has also held research positions at Texize Chemicals (now Dow Chemical), Container Corporation of America, and the Marplan Division of McCann-Erickson Advertising (Division of Interpublic Advertising).

Mr. Deuterman has conducted both quantitative and qualitative research studies for companies involved in almost all areas of consumer durable products, packaged goods and service industries. He has also conducted business-to-business research for a wide variety of companies.

A highly experienced qualitative researcher, he has conducted hundreds of focus groups, depth interviews and one-on-one interviews on consumer and B2B subjects.

He holds a BA degree in Experimental Psychology from Northwestern University and an MS in Counseling Psychology from George Williams College. He has served as the president of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Marketing Association. He is a member of the Marketing Research Association (MRA) and of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA).


William D. Hobbs

William (Bill) has worked in the advertising and design industry for over 25 years. As an creative/art director for some of the leading ad agencies in North Carolina he has worked on a diverse group of clientele. Some clients he has worked for include American Drew, Carlyle and Co., Tropicana Casino, Wrangler Jeans, Kayser-Roth and Michelin Tires.

As the principal of A Winning Look Creative for the last 25 years he has produced many high profile projects for print, television and the web. Bill's skills are as diverse as his clientele, from ecommerce web site designs to full color illustrations he has proved he is a multi-talented member of the GMA family.

Bill holds a degree in advertising and marketing and has won multiple Addy Awards and PICA Awards for his designs.
